Broccoli Dog

Broccoli Dog is the nickname given to an image of a dog sitting at a table with a plateful of broccoli, in which he takes an understandable disinterest. From here people created somewhat of a LOL Cat and put the phrase "Do Not Want" with the picture. Also, a handful of fans put their photoshop skills to work and added a twist to this picture. The origin of this photo is unknown and is still being researched. So if anyone knows anything about a dog that has a strong distaste for broccoli, let the people know.

Jell-O Prank

Every wondered how to welcome back a colleague? Well somewhere in Finland an office knew exactly how to welcome back their fellow colleague Tom. Well, no other way than to do the jelly mouse and keyboard prank. Tom's mouse and keyboard keys were stuffed into two blocks of jell-o and left with a not that reads "Welcome back Tom!". One tasteful prank!

You Row, I'll Game

As I was browsing Kotaku.com, I came across a funny article called "You Row, I'll Game". It shows a picture of a dad and a son in a row boat in the middle of a lake. Now, some of you may be thinking that this seems like a perfectly spent afternoon with a child but as you look closely in the picture you can tell that the dad is rowing and the kid is playing on a DS. To make these pictures more funny as you scroll past the pictures, read some of the comments that people leave. :)

Bright Eyes

Have you ever gazed into somebody's eyes while at a candle light dinner with a romantic violin playing in the background? Okay, me neither but if you really want to gaze into somebody's eyes check out these pictures I found on BoingBoing.net. The article is called Macro Photos of Eyes and caught my attention by displaying a huge and amazingly detailed eyeball. These series of photographs comes from the photographer Suren Manvelyan and is called Your Beautiful Eyes. So even if you have gazed into somebody's eyes, you never have like this.

The Most Interesting Man in the World

We all know that catch phrase, the most interesting man in the world. If not, you have been living in a box, or you have not seen any of the Dos Equis commercials. As I surfed through knowyourmeme.com, I came across an article about one of my favorite commercials. Dos Equis has created a great marketing campaign with the most interesting man in the world. With their humerus catch phrases, the most interesting man in the world is not only extremely interesting but super hero-like. With catch phrases like "when he slaps you in the face you have to resist saying thank you" and "sharks have a week dedicated to him", Dos Equis one liners are never short to impress. The point of these ads were to get people talking about their product and I believe they have accomplished just that.

"Between two Ferns"

Do you need a laugh today? This video that I found on Tubefilter.com is bound to make anyone laugh. From the show "Between two Ferns" comes an interview between Steve Carell and Zach Galifianakis. The interview takes place between two faux ferns and terns extremely awkward within seconds. Carell is no stranger to blurting absurdly inappropriate comments and therefore wastes no time during this interview with is fellow co-star in Despicable Me. Check out this video if you are in need of a good laugh. :)

Twisted Genius

As I looked through the website Wired, I found an article about Tim Burton that caught my eye. This article showed multiple concept artworks that Burton sketched. I particularily love looking at these doodles because I am in love with the works of Tim Burton. Everytime I want to be taken to another world that is outside of my imagination, I watch a Tim Burton movie. "Tim's sketchbooks are his diary," writes Gallo. "He takes people who strike him in some way and pens their memory into his sketchbook, accentuating the characteristics that most strike him." I hope that you enjoy looking through these sketches as much as I did. There is a description under each to give you more background about the sketch. If you really like these sketches you can purchase Tim Burton's book called, The Art of Tim Burton.

And the Mysterious Plumber is......Mario?

This week on the Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert pokes fun at the mysterious plumber who solved to mystery on how to cap the leaking oil in the Gulf. As BP announced their great achievement they inform us on everything but who achieved it. Luck for us, Stephen Colbert knows the answer. As you watch the clip below that I found on Kotaku, Stephen Colbert states that this plumber must have distinct underwater experience. And who may that be, well our very own Mario of course. Colbert also goes on the inform the public that Tony Hayward will step down from BP immediately. By immediately we mean October 1st. Colbert then goes to check in on their very own live Tony Hayward camera in which Hayward is basically sitting with a blank expression. Colbert does it again, taking serious topics and yet again making them hilarious.

Wikipedia vs. Britannica

The battle between Wikipedia and Britannica has been an never-ending battle. Jimmy Wales and Andrew Keen can debate for over an hour on the issue of Wikipedia but it all crumbles down to how the public utilizes the tool.

Being a college student, I have found myself stumbling across Wikipedia while working on class homework. Even though the majority of my professors do not allow Wikipedia, no college student can deny that they do not use it. I do not believe in using Wikipedia as a major source in a research paper but I do believe that Wikipedia is a jump start of knowledge. It is a way to receive a knowledge base on a certain topic.

My biggest concern with Wikipedia is the fact that anybody can edit and put in their "knowledge". On the other hand, that is Wikipedia's biggest strengths. Its weakness because, as Steven Colbert accomplished with the elephant, the public can put rubbish that has nothing to do with a certain topic. Its strength comes from the variety of knowledge that has the capability to inform on a topic. It has no boundaries therefore people with first hand experiences can inform the world on their knowledge.

Therefore, I am in limbo. I do not believe in completely giving in to Wikipedia yet, I do believe it is a great jump start to get your brain moving.

The Supposed Future...

When you think of your own future money, becoming a doctor, or having your own family may come to mind. While many of us may think of things like this, our every changing world has created bigger and broader ideas for our future. As I was looking around the Boingboing website, I found a shirt that fit this idea perfectly. This was supposed to be the future is a shirt that reads:

"they lied to us
this was supposed to be
the future
where is my jetpack,
where is my robotic companion,
where is my dinner in pill form,
where is my hydrogen fueled automobile,
where is my nuclear-powered levitating home,
where is my cure for this disease
"

This shirt is
designed by John Slabyk over at Threadless. I really like the design and the saying of this shirt. I feel as if all of our futuristic movies and with the influence of the media, the thought of our future is now a sci-fi movie. Which I think is totally cool.

OMG Cat

As I was searching through the videos on Knowyourmeme.com, I came across this video called OMG Cat. Since I have just recently become the owner of a cat I found it quite hilarious. Chocolate, now nicknamed the OMG cat, is a cat from Japan who has just recently suffered from a dislocated jaw. This then led to his oh so shocked expression in the video. For all of you cat lovers out there it is said that Chocolate or OMG cat is fully recovered and doing fine.

As this video started to blow up certain viewers made their own creations from the OMG Cat video. For example, in this video the Chocolate cannot believe that this goal was scored by young Danny Rose. Or, in the video It's an iPad, Chocolate is amazed by the new technology Apple has created. The list goes on to the amount of videos that have been remixed with the original video. Heck, even Justin Beiber did his very own remake of the OMG Cat. Whether you think this video is completely wrong or completely right, you cannot help but chuckle a little.

The iOScars

Does anybody remember when video cameras used to be big, bulky, uncomfortable, and not shoot in the highest quality? Now, this has all changed. An article was put out on TubeFilter.com stating that with the new iPhone 4, users are able to shoot and edit their own video creations all with the touch of their finger. No seriously, if any one of you has the iPhone 4 you are able to shoot video and then edit that same footage all on your phone.

Chase Jarvis is an acclaimed commercial photographer. He’s taken pictures brand names like Volvo, Nike, Apple, Microsoft, Jeep, and Red Bull, among many others. In September 2009, Jarvis created a new type of work that is outside of his normal works. Jarvis published a book called "The Best Camera is the One that's With You", which is a collection of images from a year in Jarvis' life, all shot on his iPhone.

From this idea launched the iOScars. "It’s an online award that celebrates democratized film-making and honors the best movies shot and edited with the iPhone 4".

Can you imagine going from a big, bulky, uncomfortable video camera to a sleek, lightweight, easily portable video camera. Now we all know that Apple has created some pretty amazing things but the idea behind this is very cool. This was created by normal people with no affiliation with Apple, just SUPER fans of the iPhone 4, putting their new technology to use in ways never thought possible. They want to bridge the gap between professional and consumer production quality and are excited to see what people will create. By visiting the iOScars website you are able to view and vote on the videos that you like.

So pull out that iPhone and get your fingers moving. Who knows, maybe you will win an iOScar?
